C.V. CARINE VAN STEEN

My artwork and the work I have done as entrepreneur in the arts are inseparably connected. Both have equal importance in my artistic development.

Since1982, I have been not only a sculptor but also the initiator and developer of three art organisations. All were created to promote art made for outdoor spaces By setting up these organisations and their exhibitions, my art has increasingly developed towards land art and environmental design. Central to this was the design and execution of the 'Amstel garden'. It was my interest in the ways we cope with death that led to the establishing of 'Kunst in Memoriam' ('Art as Memorial')
